A plethora of defenses produced noteworthy performances during the second week of the 2017 college football season.

The Alabama Crimson Tide dominated the Fresno State Bulldogs en route to a 41-10 victory at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday afternoon, so it's no surprise the 'Bama secondary was featured among highlights of the biggest hits from the second weekend of September.

In Happy Valley, the Penn State Nittany Lions cruised to a comfortable 33-14 win over the in-state rival Pittsburgh Panthers at Beaver Stadium. Pittsburgh found the end zone only once versus a punishing PSU unit that is among the top defenses in the Big Ten.
