The Fairfield Indians (3-4, 2-2) stumble their way into Aviator Stadium Friday, October 16 to take on Sycamore (2-5, 0-4) on a two-game losing streak.
Head coach Aaron Fitzstephens was the offensive line coach at Sycamore under Scott Dattilo for three years, up until the 2009 season when he was offered the Fairfield job. This produces a little bit of spark and anticipation for the game; the pupil matching up against his teacher.
The Aviators lost to the Colerain Cardinals last week by a score of 28-0, adding on to what is now a four game losing streak. In this stretch, their offense has put up a simple score a game (6.0), including two shut outs. A win won't come easy for the Aviator offense tonight, either, facing a talented Fairfield defense.
Quarterback Justin McCray leads his sputtering offense into tonight's game on a high note after showing some signs of progress with the new spread option against rival Lakota West, in which they reached the red zone three times, but only came away with one score, leaving the Indians blankless with a 26-7 loss.
The Indian's strong safety, Flip Scott, will be moving to defensive back tonight, replacing Elijah Metts, who is out due to sickness. Sophomore James Turner will be starting in Scott's place at strong safety.
Kickoff begins at 7:30 p.m. ET, as usual.
