Texas Tech is going to need a reminder on Saturday when it visits beautiful Lincoln, Neb. for what could be another coming out party for the Big Red in front of its home faithful.
Don’t worry about the 66-14 ripping the boys from Lubbock hung on Kansas State last week. That is Kansas State.
What’s the difference between Lincoln and Manhattan?
About 135 miles and five national championships. That’s what.
How many does Texas Tech have? Oh wait. Did you say none?
Did you feel that you got ripped out of the Big 12 Championship game last year? That’s because you almost lost to Nebraska in overtime at home before you got an old-fashioned, bi-annual butt kicking in Norman.
You are Texas Tech. Know your role in society! The offense is pretty, sure. But the Big 12 is won between the tackles. No matter how many times Oklahoma and Texas throw it around the yard, they still win games in the trenches.
Nebraska forgot, and now we are reminded. Roy Helu didn’t get loose against Missouri until the fourth quarter. Zac Lee’s arm needed some warming up in the drenching field conditions before finding homegrown Husker Niles Paul twice in the fourth quarter.
Missouri forgot, and it was briefed in emphatic fashion by Bo’s Big Red. Tom Osborne is on the case, and it’s business as usual in Lincoln and in living rooms and dinner tables between Scottsbluff and Rulo.
Texas Tech. You forgot. Seventy points.
No. Don’t do that to Nebraska. USC even knows better than to do that to Nebraska. Pete Carroll got three touchdowns and he coasted.
USC even knew better. Don’t make Nebraska mad.
What’s the most scary scenario for anybody left on Nebraska’s schedule is that these boys are just learning how to win close games. The Virginia Tech nightmare was a reminder. Don’t celebrate too early.
When Nebraska got it rolling against Missouri, it was easy. No threat. You are Missouri. Look what we just did to you in your house.
I hope your cell phones didn’t get ruined in the downpour. Raindrops of Husker red got all over Columbia.
Now, it’s your turn, Texas Tech. The wounds are healed with the few extra days the Blackshirts and Co. had after Missouri, and now the attention is turned to you.
We’re sorry. It’s just your role in society. Because it’s the big three in the Big 12, Texas Tech. That’s Oklahoma, Texas, and Nebraska.
Which way do you want it?
