The lions are struggling thus far this season. Although they have already improved their record from last year, this is pro football and you should win at least some games. Really i think the lions need to make 5 moves and maybe they can finish with a halfway decent record. Sure they're not going to make the playoffs or anything, but i think this is a well improved team that is very close to becoming a contender. So i write 5 moves the lions should make this season to help them get better this year and in the future.

Get Brandon Pettigrew more involved

The lions have rarely used Brando Pettigrew all season. Sure every once in a while they give it to him, but he isn't being utilized enough. A tight end is great when another team blitz's you because sometimes they are not even covered, or only one man stands in there way from a big play. Especially when you have a young quarterback a tight end can help; especially in red zone situations.

Take Backus out at left tackle.

Jeff Backus hasn't played well in years, and i doubt he would start on any other team. James Harrison last week really pushed him around and got to the quarterback way too often. Not only did Backus play bad against the Steelers, but he also played bad against every team we've faced so far. My solution would be to either take him out or switch him to left guard. At left tackle the lions can put either Salaam or Jon Jansen.

Trade for a Cornerback

Louis Delmas has been great, but the rest of the lions secondary has been horrifying. Henry and Bucannon are in danger of not starting next week because of bad play. Lions are expected to start Will James and another corner yet to be announced. Eric King is out for the season and the team just picked up DeMarcus Faggins so maybe he could fill a void. However none of these guys should be a number one corner anywhere in the league. The lions should attempt to pick up a decent corner by trading either draft picks or maybe one of their linebackers. More than likely it should be either Peterson or Sims they should trade. Although i like these two players, we really need to address the corner position, but if i were the lions i would send our second round draft pick away for a corner before the trade deadline. Who knows who we could get for a second rounder, but hopefully it is somebody that can play unlike the secondary we have now.

Change up some things

I liked when the lions would fake a reverse to Calvin only to set up a reverse later. See that worked. Last game against the Steelers there wasn't much trickery. You need to do that if your a bad team; look at the dolphins. I also understand the argument how you can't switch to a 3-4 defense, but how come they can't just package some 3-4 plays once in a while. Add more plays each week, and if it works switch to a 3-4 defense next year. Also how bout running a couple option plays every once in a while, we did some of those last year, and it worked. Just the key is to not use them to much and they will work. Hey how bout they make a new defense called the 4-4 defense?

Sign Marvin Harrison!

He's just sitting there not doing anything. I'm sure he'd join Detroit. Listen i understand the argument that he isn't fast anymore, that is true, but great hands don' t go away and that's what Marvin's got. The lions are short on wide reciever right now, calvins hurt, and they just signed John Standeford, who was cut by the team earlier. I'm sure Harrison is better than Standeford right now, so why not take the shot? Even just one workout to see if the Marvin Harrison still has some gas left?
