Can England lift the 2010 world cup?

Danny ArcherContributor IJune 4, 2008

Can England really lift the 2010 world cup? i don't really know, don't get me wrong Capello is a truly great manager but can he take a side with great club players but not at national level to win the world cup?

England have failed to produce in European cups and world cups ever since they won it in 1966. After failing to qualifier for Euro 2008 theres been a few raised eyebrows. One thing needs to made clear that it will take time for the players to gell under Capello but it could come off,its got to. The worrying thing is the friendlies Capello and England have played have been poor. We should be getting friendlies against top sides like portugal and holland etc more often to get some of idea of the toppest level of football. The friendly against America and Trinidad were to be honest poor! England now need to step up a gear and show the world that we are one of the best countrys in the world.
