It's a few days old, but because of the blog's DARP boycott, I just learned of such things. Our friend Michael Rosenberg's recent article (updated at 4:27 AM on Oct. 15, '09—hey, the spin machine never sleeps) says that Rich Rodriguez "backtracked " (don't click on the link-ad revenue keeps his paycheck flowing) on public claims made about the team's GPA.
For those of you unfamiliar with the topic at issue, Rodriguez said last fall that last semester's team GPA was the highest ever for a Michigan team. Apparently, the team doesn't keep such records. Rodriguez explained to the DARP that the academic advisors who told him the information "did not make it clear that the number was just an estimate and not an exact calculation. We apologize if this has caused any confusion.”
OH MY LORD!! RUN FOR THE HILLS!! IT TURNS OUT THAT THE TEAM'S RIDICULOUSLY HIGH GPA WAS AN APPROXIMATION OF THE BEST EVER!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!! THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!!! AN APPROXIMATION OF THE BEST??? OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!
