Racing For a Great Cause

To borrow a line (and then totally mess it up) from my favorite musical ever Wicked if I could "close my eyes and leap" instead of "defying gravity" I'd be sitting in the bleachers at the beautiful and historical Eldora Speedway in Rossberg, Ohio.

Tonight is the "Prelude to the Dream" and it's going to benefit Victory Junction Gang Camp 2, to be built near Kansas City.

Seriously, who wouldn't want to see Jimmie Johnson (who by the way hasn't been in a dirt car before.  He's done off road trucks but not dirt cars), Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Mark Martin, Dave Blaney, Ray Evernham and others race and while you're seeing a great race your dollars would go to an amazing cause!

Having spent the last 10 years working with special needs kids, Victory Junction Gang Camp has a very special place in my heart. So when I heard the announcement that The Petty family was going to open another camp here in the midwest I was gung ho - sign me up!

I went to Eldora on vacation a couple of years ago, and saw an amazing race!  I've spent a lot of time at tracks around my area and I have to say that Tony Stewart has done great things with Eldora!

It's a beautiful track and I'm woman enough to admit that when I got out of the car in the parking lot my eyes had some tears in them. I thought of all the history and who had raced at the track I felt I was walking on hallowed ground.

If you are lucky enough to be in the Rossberg area, go see a race.  Whether it's tonight's Prelude or just a weekly race GO! You will not be disappointed.

Dirt racing is amazing. Go support your local dirt track and you will see some of the best racing around! You could end up cheering for the next big thing in the Cup Series.

And who knows, you might just bump into your favorite cup driver like Carl Edwards, Kenny Wallace, or Kenny Schrader!
