Who You Meet at the Mobbies

Even though I can in last place in the ’sports’ category, I attended the Mobbie awards last night in the hopes that I would make some new friends, and get free drinks.

Mission 1 – Accomplished. Mission 2- Not at all.

I got to meet several of the men behind the great blogs that I read on a regular basis. I would’ve taken pictures, but the venue for the Mobbie awards wasn’t the most well lit or well-appointed room you could find. It was basically a warehouse with art and leather couches interspersed throughout it.

So, in honor of the meet-and-greet, I encourage you to check out the men behind some of Baltimore’s best blogs. Most notably, Bruce Posner of the Terrapin-centric blog, Terp Talk. BP also is very knowledge about all regional college and pro sports, so you definitely can get in some good reads there.

I also had a chance to meet the gentlemen of Right Off Russell, who were also very gracious in their win for best Ravens blog, even to a blogger who came in last place overall in the sports category. We’ve linked to each other before, but in case you’ve never visited, there’s no better place for coverage on Orioles baseball, Ravens football and everything in between.

And finally, J. Quinton from Inside Charm City, from which I’ve pilfered my share of Orioles news over these last two years. Great guy, and his unassuming nature could indeed catch you off guard.

In sum, a great time was had by all at the Mobbies. Here’s hoping I can rise above last place in the 2010 edition of the awards.
