World No. 2 Rafael Nadal eased past his compatriot Tommy Robredo to reach the quarterfinals of the ATP Masters 1000 Event in Shanghai.

Nadal had won all four of the duo's previous matches coming into this encounter and Rafa eased through the first set 6-1. The second set proved to be a bit tighter, but Nadal still managed to claim it 6-4 to seal a 6-1 6-4 victory. Nadal took the tennis world by storm last year when he won Wimbledon for the first time, as well as the Olympic Gold Medal.

As a result of those fine accomplishments Nadal reached No. 1 in the world for the first time in his career. Indeed, 2009 has been a steady year for Nadal after he won the Australian Open title for the first time in his career.

However, the Spaniard has since been plagued by injuries and as a result he was not able to defend his titles at Queens and Wimbledon. If Nadal can find his best form then he has every chance of upsetting the Betting Odds and regaining his Wimbledon title next year.
