Alexander Gustafsson to Jon Jones: 'I've Been Waiting to Put My Hands on You'

Alexander Gustafsson challenged for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship at UFC 165 in 2013 against Jon Jones. It was the greatest light heavyweight fight of all time.

Gustafsson wants to run it back after Jones reclaimed the gold at UFC 214 against Daniel Cormier.

Up until UFC 165, Jones was an untouchable monster who was head and shoulders above the rest. Gustafsson shattered that illusion during a five-round war in which he came up just short of capturing gold.

The scorecards showed he was one round away from a championship (h/t MMADecisions.com)

Jones, in the cage post-fight at UFC 214, called out Brock Lesnar for a fight. However, Lesnar cannot return until 2018 at the earliest, per Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports. That leaves an opening on Jones' schedule, with Gustafsson the top-ranked challenger not named Cormier.

It's time to pull the trigger on the rematch of the greatest 205-pound fight ever. Jones vs. Gustafsson II is the right call.
