All the good teams in the NFL has a fixture on offense and on defense like a vocal leader or a leader who lets his play do the talking.for example the Colts with Peyton Manning and Bob Sanders, Pittsburgh Has Ben Rothlisberger and Jerome Harrison. The Detroit lions has no one aside from Calvin Johnson.Who is our leader on defense? Louis Delmas;I think Delmas Will be a very good player for the lions but right now he is a rookie you can't talk the talk if you not gonna walk the walk. With rookies there comes Mistakes and that's why Delmas makes no sense. Here comes Shawne Merriman A three Times Pro Bowler and Outstanding Play-maker with Lot of Confidence. The only reason why he is Struggling is because he doesn't get enough snaps on defense to get back to the speed of the game.Think about it  Carson struggle after his injury,so did everyone else like Ben Rothlisberger until they caught up to speed. At 6-4 265 Merriman has the body for a 4-3 defensive end and the strengh of a warrior. With him coming off the knee injury and struggling to get back up to speed has lower his value to most teams;which is why i believe a second round draft pick would get the job done. For the Lions that would be a smart investment for several reasons.

1.At 25 yrs old shawne Merriman is like a rookie.
2.with three pro bowls under his belt Shawne is to good to pass up.
3.Shawne bring the swagger on the defense that the lions have been missing.

In my opinion to get Shawne Merriman would not only benefit the Lions but it would also benefit each and every single player on that Defense.
