WWE Great Balls of Fire 2017: Forecasting Results for Brock Lesnar and Top Stars
It may well rank as one of the stranger pay-per-view names in recent years, but WWE Great Balls of Fire has all the potential to be one of the company's strongest in a long time.
The card, without putting too fine a point on it, is stacked from start to finish.
There are mouthwatering championship matches all across the show on Sunday, culminating in the electrifying Samoa Joe vs. Brock Lesnar bout for the Universal Championship.
Elsewhere, many of Raw's top stars are in fascinating matches which should set the tone for SummerSlam perfectly.
Here's a look at some predictions for the biggest stars at Great Balls of Fire.
Enzo and Cass
1 of 4It's safe to say that the expected split between Enzo Amore and Big Cass has been pleasantly surprising to watch play out.
Things stepped up a notch in the final build this week when Amore addressed Cass' betrayal before assaulting him backstage.
It was a much-needed segment to give Amore some credibility and make fans believe he has a chance of upsetting the odds this Sunday.
However, don't expect the fairytale to come true for Amore.
WWE has big plans for Big Cass, and they probably involve running straight through Enzo this weekend.
Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks
2 of 4Many suspected it would be Nia Jax who would be the next challenger to Alexa Bliss and the Raw Women's Championship.
That it is Sasha Banks is a pleasant surprise, and it should be a fantastic addition to the Great Balls of Fire card.
But who wins?
There's a strong case for Banks, as it opens the door to a whole new world of opportunities for Raw's women's division.
But it would be extremely harsh to take the title from Bliss right now.
It may well end in disqualification. It may well end in controversy. But there is a strong chance Bliss retains and continues to dominate Monday nights.
Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman
3 of 4Is there a single superstar on the Raw roster hotter than Braun Strowman right now?
In the space of a year, Strowman has gone from the outsider of The Wyatt Family to a viable challenger for the Universal Championship when the time is right. That's quite the turnaround.
And don't bank on his hot streak ending this weekend.
Strowman is booked to take on Roman Reigns in a feud which has certainly brought the best out of both men, but there can only be one winner on Sunday night.
Logic dictates that has to be Strowman. He should move on and then face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship, because his recent form and surge in popularity deserves it.
WWE cannot afford to drop the ball here.
Brock Lesnar and Samoa Joe
4 of 4Has there ever been such a strong contender to beat Brock Lesnar fair and square since he returned to the company several years ago?
Samoa Joe has been booked so strongly and so competently, there's a legitimate case to suggest he should go over Lesnar on Sunday and win the WWE Universal Championship.
Unfortunately for Joe fans, that won't happen.
There are clearly bigger plans, with all due respect to Joe, afoot for Lesnar at SummerSlam. While the build to this match at Great Balls of Fire has fully merited another bout later this summer, WWE will make this a one-time thing.
And that means Lesnar winning, whether it be cleanly or with a touch of controversy. Unfortunately, as good as Joe has been in recent weeks, there's no real other outcome.
