According to cage-fighting Web site FiveOuncesofPain.com, Kimbo Slice may get his big-stage debut in in the the biggest mixed martial arts promotion on the planet, the UFC, as early as Dec. 12 at UFC 107.

The report—which, at this point, is simply a rumor—was posted on the respected MMA site yesterday, Oct. 13, by Cory Brady.

He suggests that Houston Alexander has been approached and will be Kimbo's debut opponent for the UFC event, which will be held in Memphis, Tenn., and feature a stellar lightweight main event championship bout between B.J. Penn and Diego Sanchez.

Alexander, in case you are wondering, is the powerful stand-up striker who took the cage-fighting world by storm by knocking out the established UFC 205-pound mainstay Keith Jardine in 48 seconds at the promotion's 71st event in May, 2007.

Unfortunately, however, they say that "there is someone for everyone," and even though the quote may have been intended for the love-lorn, the saying can also sometimes be applied to combat sports.

That someone for Alexander came at UFC 78, when he faced then undefeated contender Thiago Silva.

Silva, a hungry Brazilian headhunter, wasted no time in demonstrating to the packed crowd in attendance that, when it comes to big guns, he has two which are cocked, fully loaded, and deliver strikes with magnum force.

Silva won by TKO referee stoppage in the very first round, as he had the floundering Alexander on his back, mounted, and was raining down heavy power-punches and hammer-fists that were right on target.

This was the beginning of the end for Alexander, and after another quick loss to "The Sandman" James Irvin in April of '08, and a submission stoppage to Eric "Red" Schafer on a Spike-televised UFC Fight Night show, Alexander then quickly disappeared off the cage-fighting radar.

He has since surfaced once again, however, scoring a recent first-round TKO win, albeit in a subpar promotion against no-name opponent Sherman Pendergarst at Adrenaline MMA last month.

So now, if the rumor holds weight, it's a strong possibility that it's due to a controversy between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and UFC president Dana White.

Jackson recently announced that he would be ending his fighting career with the UFC and subsequently pulling out of his scheduled meeting with Rashad Evans at the 107 event in favor of a starring role in an upcoming movie.

As for Slice, far be it from me to try to explain how he will be awarded this upcoming fight, should the rumor come to fruition.

He is currently the star of the 10th season of The Ultimate Fighter but has been eliminated due to losing a sloppy-looking belly-flopping fight contest to Roy "Big Country" Nelson, who is cage-fighting's equivalent to historic boxer "Two Ton" Tony Galento.

And even though the reality show has been prerecorded months ago and is now basically a done deal—and possibly also irrelevant—the final result is not known by the public, or at least not this writer.

Meanwhile, Slice, for his part, is patiently waiting in the wings, in hopes that someone may drop out, or be forced out, maybe even "paid-off" to get out.

That would be the only avenue for him to return, as then he may be voted back in, important to note that the voting committee consists of one man, White, who no doubt has ulterior motives and future investments in Slice.

This seems like a case of "let's get Kimbo into the UFC" no matter how we have to cheat and lie to the fans and the paying public to achieve that particular goal.

Of course, I've been known to be wrong, and further episodes may prove Kimbo to be worthy of a shot at the big show, but so far, even though I'm fan of his, he hasn't performed up to par.

A first-round knockout over "Big Country" Nelson would have been a correct route to take toward a UFC appearance in this writer's opinion; however, that didn't happen.

So now it will be intriguing, to say the least, to watch the forthcoming episodes and witness the events unfold.

Stay tuned, folks, as the plot thickens in the never-ending saga of the UFC and the YouTube Internet sensation named Kimbo Slice.
