Chelsea's defence of the Premier League title will begin at home to Burnley as manager Antonio Conte gets the 2017-18 season under way with an inviting opening fixture.

Goal's Nizaar Kinsella provided a look at the Blues' opening salvo of Premier League matchups as the forthcoming season's fixtures were announced on Wednesday:

The Blues benefited from not being involved in European competition as they won their second title in three seasons last term, but it will be of some interest to see how Conte's men cope with the UEFA Champions League being back on their calendar.

Burnley present a test for Chelsea's 2017-18 inauguration, and Bleacher Report's Garry Hayes teased the good omens that emerged when last they played the Clarets on the opening day:

Chelsea's first major test of the campaign will come on August 19, when the Blues will have the honour of being last season's runners-up, Tottenham Hotspur's first match at their temporary home Wembley Stadium.

The Blues finished seven points ahead of Spurs and have ignited something of a rivalry with their London peers in recent years, making for an early showdown between potential title contenders.

As for Arsenal, the west Londoners will have their chance at redemption against the side that beat them to last season's FA Cup on September 16 at Stamford Bridge.

While the season's starting point may look hopeful, Chelsea face a fight to finish strongly as their February and March schedules look particularly tough, as illustrated by Liam Twomey of ESPN FC:

Chelsea meet Manchester City for the first time at Stamford Bridge on September 30, and the Citizens' early summer transfer business suggests they could be the Blues' stiffest competition in bidding for the crown.

Conte instantly brought his side back to the top of England's upper crust in his maiden Premier League term, but the fight is now on to remain there, with every other team in the division angling to seize their throne.
