Reports from Germany have said Arsenal want Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel to succeed Arsene Wenger as manager.

German newspaper Bild (h/t Sean Kearns of Metro) reported the Gunners "have made an offer" to the BVB boss to join the Premier League giants next term.

Bild claims Wenger "will stand down after 21 years at the club," opening the door for Tuchel to move to England. The Arsenal manager is out of contract at the end of the season, and results have been disappointing this term—with the Gunners humiliated by Bayern Munich in the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League.

However, Jeremy Wilson and John Percy of the Telegraph reported Wenger intends to sign a new deal to remain in charge of the north London outfit.

Arsenal have lost six of their last nine in all competitions, sparking furious protests from travelling fans against the French coach as the team were defeated by West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Tuchel replaced Jurgen Klopp at Dortmund, and his reputation has swelled in the past 12 months at the Signal Iduna Park.

The 43-year-old guided his side to second in the Bundesliga in his first season, and his team have made it to the quarter-finals in the Champions League this year.

Tuchel's age (43) would see him as a strong long-term replacement for Wenger, as Arsenal attempt to regain the confidence lost during the current season.
