It appears that forgotten man Mitch Mustain, once the nation's top quarterback recruits, may have worked his way ahead of Aaron Corp into the backup slot for Matt Barkley, writes Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.
Mustain, who had fallen so far off the QB radar that he was working out as a punter, was impressive in a Friday-morning scrimmage, completing 10 of 12 passes with two touchdowns.
"He's making a big move," coach Pete Carroll said.
"He's throwing the ball really well. In general, he's just picked up his game considerably. You can't help but notice it."
With no game this weekend, Mustain will have another week to impress Carroll before the Trojans take on Notre Dame.
I have seen him in pratice and he is a heck of a player. In my opinion, he should have started in the first place.
