Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather Is 'On,' According to Chael Sonnen

First off, take anything the former UFC and current Bellator fighter Chael Sonnen says with a grain of salt. We're not calling it fake news per se, but he's more entertainer than reporter.

With that said, Sonnen's tweet is just one more log to throw on the fire regarding a possible unprecedented megafight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.

In what's felt like a never-ending soap opera, could we actually be inching closer to a match between the retired undefeated boxer and the current UFC lightweight champion?

It took years for Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao to get made. And they were both high-level boxers.

There was no X-factor of the UFC and Dana White wanting their cut of the action. No hurdle existed as it does with McGregor being under contract with the UFC. With the extra complications, you'd think a fight between Mayweather and McGregor would take even longer to put together or would simply not be possible at all.

But here we are. With Sonnen either knowing something most of the world doesn't...or deciding to troll the internet while we're all trying to focus on this first weekend of March Madness.
