Tate was interviewed by Sporting News' Dave Curtis. He discusses the first few games, the team, his adjustment to college life, calls on his cell phone (people bother him all week long, including at 2 a.m.), and Iowa's defense. In response to a question about the things people are saying about him, Tate said:

"You know, I just play. It's great to get recognized, to have people care about what you're doing and cheer for you. But sometimes, people make more of it than what it is. The comebacks and all that stuff, that's just how I play. When the game is on the line, I'm not going to change what I do. It's the same in the first quarter as in the fourth quarter. The situation doesn't matter."
