If healthy, the question becomes can the Clippers make the playoffs this season. With a roster that goes two deep at every position, including 3 deep at center.Baron Davis ultimately will have to stay healthy and produce like a all star and this team will make some major noise. They have brought in 3 players to solidify the bench in Telfair,Smith, and Butler who were all double digit scorers on their teams last season.
Point Guards
Starter Baron Davis
Davis has all the tools for a perfect pg.He is great at getting in the paint and either making the pass or the shot.He is a above average 3 point/free throw shooter/Defender/Leader.Can avg up to 25ppg,10apg,5rpg...
Backup Sebastian Telfair
Telfair is a legit starting pg in the league and has a backup pg,he will be one of the best backup pg's in the league, which will allow Davis to not have to play major minutes and get 10 to 15 minutes rest some games and stay healthy throughout the season.Telfair is a ultra quick guard who also can get into the lane at will and is quick with his hands on the defensive end,he isn't a great shooter but has a overall solid offensive game for a backup guard.
Shooting Guards
Starter Eric Gordan
Coming off a rookie season in which he averaged 17ppg and became a full time starter by the seasons end,Gordan has deceptive quickness and a first step, can shoot the pull up/3 point/spot up/off the dribble jumper. He competes on defense and this season comes into camp 5 to 10 lbs lighter which will only improve every aspect of his game.
Backup and potential 6th man Ricky Davis
Davis has been a 20ppg scorer in this league,as his career winds down he will be counted on to give explosive scoring off the bench,if healthy coming off of last years injury filled season, look for 12 ppg from Davis this season.
Small Forwards
Starter Al Thornton
Thorton coming into his 3rd season will be counted on to deliver 13 to 15ppg and be a solid defender and rebounder.Which im sure he will he is a player who doesn't need plays ran for him and can score 15 ppg a game off pure energy, hustle, and effort which he possesses along with major skills he has.
Last season he averaged 17ppg.
Backup Rasual Butler
Butler coming off a season where he started at sg for the Hornets avg 11ppg and was a relaible 3 point shooter at 40%
Power Forwards
Starter Blake Griffith
The #1 overall pick in this years draft is going to be the starter at pf,and should put up 13ppg,9rpg this season as he learns the NBA ropes.
Backup Craig Smith
Averaged 20min a game last year for the Timberwolves,Smith averaged 10ppg,4rpg,55%fgp,lovely numbers for a bench player.Smith is a big body with above average post moves. He in my mind is the Clippers best low post scorer besides Kayman.
Centers
Starter Chris Kayman
Kayman when healthy produces/puts up number 15ppg,8rpg,2bpg,look for these type of numbers this year,if he can stay on the court.
Backup Marcus Camby
Camby will always play solid defense and if he starts bank on 10ppg,12rpg,3bpg,if he is a backup look for 5ppg,7rpg,2bpg...
Backup Deondre Jordan
Look for Jordan to get some minutes with the crowded frountcourt,I suspect a trade might happen with 1 of these frontcourt players. He is a big man who plays like one, soft is not an example you can use with him,he has bulked up alot since being with the Clippers, and plays though rebounds and blocks shots.
