Michigan Basketball Uses Police to Surprise Walk-On with Scholarship

Kyle NewportFeatured ColumnistJanuary 11, 2017

These days, just handing over a scholarship isn't going to cut it. College coaches around the country are now competing for the most creative way to surprise walk-ons with financial aid.

Michigan Wolverines coach John Beilein may have just claimed first place.

Beilein surprised senior Andrew Dakich with a scholarship recently, but he took the time to scare the life out of him first.

Beilein had police call out Dakich during a team meeting with a pretend warrant before revealing the news, though he admitted to stealing the idea from another coach.
