Steroids.

We have all heard about this topic over and over again. I'm sick of it, and I know you are as well.

Barry Bonds is the helpless soul in this whole steroid controversy, and there are arguments as to whether it was brought out because of Bonds' personality, which seems anti-social at times, or by his African-American race.

I believe it could be a combination of both, but I'm leaning more towards the race card. People are tired of athletes such as Donovan McNabb saying that race is bigger than what it seems now in sports, but I believe that to be the case in some parts of the country.

I don't know when I last heard Mark McGwire or Rafael Palmeiro's name in the steroids mix. Don't get me wrong, those names are still in there, but I don't hear them as often as I hear Bonds.

They don't even talk about Rick Ankiel or Troy Glaus' name about HGH anymore. I think that's absurd. You can drop those names I've listed above, but you can't even take a break with Bonds?

If you're going to put an asterisk next to Bonds' name in the Hall of Fame, do it to McGwire. Do it to Palmeiro. I still think the race card is being pulled when associating steroids with Bonds.

  1. You fail to tell us why Bonds should be given a break. You suggest that others should be called out, but not why Bonds shouldn't (unless your thesis is that we should just drop the subject all together, which, although I disagree with the idea, would make a far more compelling article. If you are going to yell racism, back it up with something other than your gut feeling.

Lastly, if you are sick of hearing about steroids, why write this at all?

    1. He should be given a break because he seems to be the only one associated with steroids. You don't hear anything about steroids hardly anymore, but I was saying that society pretends he's the only user in the entire world. Since the news hasn't brought up steroids really anymore, the article doesn't have a use now, but racism is out there, even though not very people will admit it.

You give me something to back it up with. You give me old articles, and news clips and you see for yourself if Barry didn't deserve a break at least once. If he cheated, he cheated. but no one has proven he has, so you're innocent until proven guilty. Give the guy a break, and figure out how hard it is to be in his position. I put what I feel, and you can moan and cry like everyone else, but you're not black and you don't truly know what goes on in the world.

  2. I'm not sure what channels you've been watching, but I don't hear much about Barry Bonds anymore. Other than the fact that nobody wants him on their team and the MLBPA is investigating for collusion.

Sorry if you don't like Barry Bonds being in the news more than other roiders. Maybe if he'd refrain from having multiple felony charges levied against him, he wouldn't receive so much media coverage. There's one other baseball cheat that I'm sick of hearing about that has also been charged with felonies. I hear about him a lot more than Bonds these days. But I won't mention his name because he's white and would not help your case.

Here's a hint: His name is Roger Clemens.

Put as asterisk by McGwire and Palmeiro? Hasn't that already been done, idiot? McGwire only appeared on 25% of Hall of Fame ballots his first year. God knows Barry Bonds will appear on more than 25% his first go-round. Palmeiro has NO CHANCE at making it into the Hall of Fame. Those are your asterisks. bud.

  3. "Give the guy a break, and figure out how hard it is to be in his position."

    ?

What, as an incredibly wealthy man who grew up privileged?
