Here's some news from Nick Green of 100% soccer: Allison Falk and Val Henderson are heading off to join the Indies.
Hmmm. Says GM manager Terry Foley on Henderson's acquisition...
"Although we’ve built an extraordinary team to this point, the goalkeeping position was an obvious hole that needed to be filled. We didn’t feel that any of the college players would be ready to start in goal for us next season, and I think we can all breathe a little easier knowing we have a dominant keeper with league experience starting position in net.”
No confidence in the new blood coming in, eh Terry? To each his own. As for Philadephia's acquisition of Falk, he had this to say.
“We needed another central defender to give us depth in the back line, and Allison has already demonstrated her value as a center back in the WPS. We are excited to have her as a part of the Independence roster in 2010.”
Now, this brings up the interesting question waiting to happen: who was the first player to score goals for her teams in each of their respective histories?
No jinxing, honestly. But this is a great get for Philadelphia. Sooner or later, though, you're gonna need to see what the college grads can too, because everyone else in the league (aside from the new Atlanta Beat) already has, Mr. Foley.
Stay tuned for more wheeling and dealings from the WPS here on b/r. and I Told You Sol.
