What is going on in New York? The New York Giants added a new name to the growing list of injured players today with news of LB Michael Boley having surgery and expected to miss a month of playing time.

This is a very disturbing trend. I am having difficulty remembering a year when Big Blue has had this many injuries.

I do not mean to sound negative. I am simply stating the reality of where the team is right now.

They improved their record to 4-0 after beating the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, 27-16. But many wonder how long the party can continue with all of the talent being lost to the injury bug.

Tom Coughlin must be racking his brain over what to do at this point.

Let's take a look at the players who have already been ruled out for the year and placed on the dreaded "Injured Reserve" list.

Clearly, the most devastating loss to date is S Kenny Phillips who suffered a left knee injury. Phillips is a young, promising safety who has been compared to Ed Reed of the Baltimore Ravens. That is a very big compliment to any young player trying to make a name for themselves.

Rookie RB Andre Brown is another promising young player who had his season end abruptly by rupturing his Achilles tendon.

Veteran DT Jay Alford was lost for the year after he tore his MCL. Alford is best known for his ability to slash through the line and get to the QB.

T Andrew Carnahan is out for the year and rookie CB Stoney Woodson was cut from the team shortly following his injury.

CB Aaron Ross has yet to play a game this season due to a nagging hamstring injury. Reports are coming out about his frustration with the rehab process and his ability to get back in the football "mood" this year.

RB Danny Ware has missed three games with an elbow injury and there has been no word about his return as of yet.

WR Dominek Hixon has missed two games with a right knee injury and the G-men hope to get him back soon. Rookie WR Hakeem Nicks just returned to action this Sunday and scored his first TD after missing two games.

Rookie LB Clint Sintim has yet to see action over a groin injury. This is one of the most promising players the Giants drafted this year and I look forward to seeing him get on the field.

Newly acquired DE Chris Canty has missed three games with a calf injury.

LB Michael Boley was suspended for the first game of the season, played in three games and now will miss a month after having surgery on his right knee.

Rookie WR Ramses Barden has missed two games this year with assorted injuries.

OT Adam Koets and OT Guy Whimper both missed last weeks game against KC and have missed playing time throughout the year.

LB Bryan Kehl suffered a fractured left finger on Sunday and had surgery today to repair it. He is listed as week to week currently.

CB Kevin Dockery recently returned after missing three games with a hamstring injury. This is a bright spot in the darkness so far.

Besides the players listed above, there are a number of players who are playing despite their injuries.

The guys playing through the pain include DE Justin Tuck with a shoulder injury, OL Kareem McKenzie with a right knee issue, OL Rich Seubert with a shoulder issue, RB Ahmad Bradshaw has an ankle issue that has bothered him all season since training camp. TE Kevin Boss got banged up in the KC game with what seemed to be a leg injury.

And the cherry on top of this sundae of horror is the recent heel injury to All-Pro QB Eli Manning. Doctors have said that Manning can play in the games, if he can stand the pain.

This is not good.

I have confidence in Easy Eli and I'm sure he will play on Sunday but this is not good news at all. Losing Manning would be devastating to the season.

Still, the Giants are riding a four game winning streak and are considered the No. 1 team in the NFL on most ranking systems. You have to wonder when this team will get fully healthy and be able to outperform an already outstanding performance to start the year.

At full strength, this team might be unbeatable.

The Giants play the Oakland Raiders this Sunday at Giants Stadium at 1 p.m. EST.

I expect another win despite the grocery list of injuries listed above.

Final Score Prediction - Giants 24 - Raiders 9
