Pedro Martinez comes off the DL to make his first start for the Mets since opening day, and it's not a moment too soon. Coming off a week where manger Willie Randolph's future looked over in Queens, the Mets are starting to roll, winning five of six. That streak includes two dominate performances by ace Johan Santana.

Atlanta is expected to activate pitcher John Smoltz  from the DL today. Smoltz will return to the bullpen, where he has 150 saves for the Braves.

Padres pitcher Mark Prior will have to undergo season ending surgery on his right shoulder. Prior, who has not pitched in the majors since Aug, 10th, 2006, was shut down in his rehab at extended spring training two weeks ago with shoulder soreness.

Ken Griffy Jr. needs just one more home run to join the exclusive 600 fraternity. Meanwhile, rookie Jay Bruce as been lights out since joining the Reds last Tuesday going 13-22, including a walk-off home run against the Braves on Saturday.

The MLB draft will air live on ESPN2 on June 5. The Tampa Bay Rays have the first pick.
