Where are the good old days?
OK, here's the deal. I'm a 47-year-old woman who is a lifelong Cowboys fan. But, more importantly, I'm a football fan. I mean, I LOVE football. I may not understand all the formations and terminology, but I know enough to know what's going on.
I think what's going on in the NFL is absurd. What happened to football? I long for the days when your favorite player stayed on your favorite team until his career was over. Now, every year, it takes until week four or five before I remember who plays where.
But what I'm really here to rant about is "What happened to Football?"
Last year, Tom Brady got hurt, like LOTS of other players, but because he's TOM BRADY, this year no one is allowed to look at him! What happened? Did the refs get together before the game and say "you know, Baltimore is really good defensively, so we'll have to protect the pretty boy." That's what it looks like to me.
Tom has been scared all year; you can see it in his face. And if I was him, I'd be terrified to go up against Ray Lewis, et al. BUT COME ON!!! It's football!!!!! You're supposed to get hit; you may even get hurt. That's why you make the big bucks Tom!
Tell you what, I'll take half of Tom's pay for one game and let the opposing team sack me and I won't even cry about it. Deal? Then Tom can stand on the sidelines and watch a 47-year-old woman take the hit and maybe he'll learn something.
If Tom Brady played during the "good old days", the days of John Matuzak and Jack Lambert, he'd have cashed out and moved to Iraq to feel safe. Oh, I dream of the good old days.
