Old Georgie Boy spent some time with his ball club earlier today. He spent about an hour in the visitors clubhouse after it was closed to the media before today’s game.

General partner, Jennifer Steinbrenner-Swindal and senior vice president Felix Lopez made clubhouse appearances today.

“It was really great to see him,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said.”Everyone came in and saw him. He was in great spirits. It was good.”

Steinbrenner told The AP that he is “excited” for the upcoming postseason run. George isn’t expected to travel to the Bronx for the ALDS, but he plans on attending games if the Yanks advance to the ALCS.

Girardi summarized Steinbrenner’s message to the team as: “Just keep going — keep doing what we’re doing.”

George also organized a team party at a New York steakhouse, which the players enjoyed very much.
