This evening the Women’s National Volleyball team of Italy took the gold medal , trouncing in the final the team of Netherlands with the disastrous result 3:0 in the largest and most modern indoor sport facility “Atlas Arena” in Lodz, Poland.

Right at the beginning of the final, the Italian team performed a stable game and demonstrates a perfect discipline and logically they won the first game with 16:25.The Italians shows a decisive superiority to their rivals and what’s more succeeded to disarm the best spiker of the ‘Tulips”, Manon Flier.

In the second game the Dutch gained the lead, but a few minutes later, Italy equalized the result and what’s more took an advantage over their opponents. The players from the Apennines made six points one after another. That was the moment when the Italians proved thаt they are a team of high standing. They won the game with 19:25.

In the third and last game, the overall picture didn’t change. The attacks of  Netherlands didn’t work whereas on the contrary the Italian blocks were getting more and more effective. The team of Italy was tasting the victory and the “Tulips” were desperately trying to offer resistance. However, the Italian machine didn’t lay down not once. The result was 20:24 in Italians’ favour when the naturalized Italian Taismary Aguero put an end to the Dutch agony scoring the last 25^th point with a fantastic ace.

By so doing, the Italian volleyball team won the gold medal and defended their European title from the previous Women’s European Volleyball Championship in Belgium and Luxembourg 2007.
