Georgia Tech's offense scored points and the defense made key plays allowing Georgia Tech to defeat Mississippi State 42-31 on the road in Starkville, Mississippi. Georgia Tech (4-1) is still not proving that they can play consistent for all four quarters but the offense certainly looked better this week. Georgia Tech out played Mississippi State in every category that head coach Paul Johnson can imagine including controlling the time of possession, rushing yards, and third down conversions. Quarterback Josh Nesbitt had his career best day in the air, passing for 11 of 14 with 266 yards and then rushed for 53 yards on 23 carries. It helps to have a great target like wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, who finished with 8 catches for 174 yards a touchdown.
Our friends over in Athens, well they weren't quite so lucky losing to LSU 20-13 in what looked like a very boring game. I'm not sure quarterback Joe Cocks (spelling) is going to be head coach Mark Richt's starter by seasons end. There is nothing better than a Georgia Tech win combined with a Georgia loss to make my Saturday night just extra special so I'd like to thank the Bulldog Nation for their sorry football team yet again. Keep the Bulldogs on alert again this weekend as they to Knoxville to play Tennessee. Georgia Tech will play Florida state in Tallahassee.
NOTES: On November 1, 2008 Georgia was bitch slapped by Florida 49-10 in Jacksonville, while Georgia Tech beat Florida State in Atlanta 31-28.
