First off, it was great to see The Rock as The Rock again and not as Dwayne Johnson. He is and always will be The Rock to wrestling fans everywhere.
Now, for his promo. I thought he did a great job. He is clearly still on a much higher level than 99 percent of the WWE talent right now. He electrified the audience.
The promo started with him referring to himself as Dwayne Johnson and talking in his normal friendly voice. He then asked for a couple of retakes including one where he interrupted himself saying "Who the hell is Dolph Ziggler anyways, am I right?"
Then he finally got his latte and it hit him, FINALLY, THE ROCK HAS COME BACK TO SMACKDOWN. I got chills when he rolled right into his old persona.
Rocky then went onto talk about the current world champ CM Punk and made a new nickname for him that i have a feeling will be on many many signs in the crowd over the next few months.
BM Punk, while not the most original nickname in the world it certainly fit in with the new family friendly direction of the WWE.
He then went on to say its time he guest hosted Raw. Its unlikely that he would say that or theta WWE would have him say that if it weren't going to happen soon.
I would love to see the Rock host Raw and even have a one-off match with someone. I know its unlikely he would wrestle at all but we can dream cant we.
Overall the Rock's promo was solid, funny and a great addition to the anniversary show. If Rock does host Raw at some point, I could see him at least having a little scuffle in the ring only so he could perform one last People's Elbow.
What were your thoughts on The Rock's promo last night?
