The Pacers looked pretty sharp during their preseason opener against the Chicago Bulls. Even though the Pacers lost to the Bulls, 104-95, it’s just the preseason and signs of improvement will follow. Here are five things I’ve learned from the loss.

Free Agent Acquisitions Shine

DENVER - MAY 29: Dahntay Jones #30 of the Denver Nuggets drives on Andrew Bynum #17 of the Los Angeles Lakers in the first quarter of Game Six of the Western Conference Finals during the 2009 NBA Playoffs at Pepsi Center on May 29, 2009 in Denver, Colora

Solomon Jones looked to be some guy who will add depth to the Pacers. Yes, that would work, but now he is so much more than that. Jim O’Brien was impressed with his performance of eleven points and three blocks in the 26 minutes he played.

Dahntay Jones showed some promise. The Pacers acquired him as a defensive stopper, and he brought pressure to many Bulls’ players. Luther Head also played well with 14 points scored. He more of a three-point man, but today was his “two-night.”

I am looking forward to more solid performances from these men.

McRoberts, Where The Hell Did that Come From?

LOS ANGELES, CA - JANUARY 09: Josh McRoberts #32 of the Indiana Pacers grabs a rebound against the Los Angeles Lakers during the first half at the Staples Center on January 9, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges a

Josh McRoberts was, well, brilliant during the preseason matchup. I think I know why Indy resigned the man out of Duke. With a fabulous dunk, I really don’t see him being a disappointment anymore.

McRoberts pulled out six rebounds and some steals as he replaced Troy Murphy and Tyler Hansbrough. McWow!

What About the Draft Picks?

NEW YORK - JUNE 25: Thirteenth overall draft pick by the Indiana Pacers, Tyler Hansbrough makes his way to the stage during the 2009 NBA Draft at the Wamu Theatre at Madison Square Garden June 25, 2009 in New York City. NOTE TO USER: User expressly ack

Tyler Hansbrough didn’t play and A.J. Price didn’t play that well that game as he missed all seven of his shots that he attempted. Oh no, right now it isn’t looking good, but it’s the first game they’ve played. Price did apply some good defensive moves.

Welcome to the NBA, folks!

Training-Camp Additions…Not So Good

CHICAGO - MARCH 20: Demetris Nichols #35 of the Chicago Bulls wipes down his shoes after entering a game against the San Antonio Spurs on March 20, 2008 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The Spurs defeated the Bulls 102-80. NOTE TO USER: User ex

With the training camp additions of Rod Benson, Demetris Nichols, and Lawrence Roberts, none of them really aren’t that impressive. Like Tim Donahue said of Eight Points, Nine Seconds, they look like training camp folds.

Granger, You Still The Man!

NEW YORK - NOVEMBER 4: Danny Granger #33 of the Indiana Pacers celebrates a basket against the New York Knicks on November 4, 2006 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and/or

Danny Granger, you are just one hell of a player! Granger played the best out of both teams, having 27 points scored in only 26 minutes, and this wasn’t even that good of a night for him! Granger is going to look great this season, no doubt about that!

Pacers Vs. Nuggets

INDIANAPOLIS - NOVEMBER 10: Carmelo Anthony #15 of the Denver Nuggets shoots the ball while defended by Danny Granger #33 of the Indiana Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse November 10, 2007 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Nuggets won 113-106. NOTE TO USER: User

So this is what we've learned from this week. Hope you enjoyed this article and stay tuned on October 8, as the Pacers travel to Taiwan to face the Denver Nuggets. Be there, or be square!
