Now that the Michigan Wolverines football program has seemingly turned the proverbial corner, is this the season in which they could possibly defeat all of their hated rivals? I'm refering to the axis of evil, no, not Iraq, Iran and North Korea but Notre Dame, Michigan State and Ohio State.

Do you realize that the last time the Wolverines defeated all three rivals in a season was in 2003, when John Navarre, Chris Perry, and Braylon Edwards were the starters under then head coach Lloyd Carr?

The Wolverines have already beaten the Fighting Irish in thrilling fashion at the Big House, thanks to freshman sensation Tate Forcier who lead his team down the field for a game winning touchdown drive. In 2003, the Maize and Blue absolutely dismantled Notre Dame, 38-0, behind Chris Perry's illuminating 133 yard, three touchdown game performance.

The Wolverines head into East Lansing on Saturday, to avenge last year’s loss, against a struggling Spartan team who have failed to live up to expectations so far. In 2003's game at Spartan Stadium, Braylon Edwards caught 2 touchdown passes to lead them past Jeff Smoker and the rest of the Michigan State Spartans, 27-20.

Saturday's game will be Tate Forcier's first road start in his short 4 game career wearing the maize and blue.

In 2003's game against Ohio State at the Horseshoe, Michigan defeated the Buckeyes 35-21 behind workhorse Chris Perry and his 2 touchdowns. Braylon Edwards also has 2 touchdowns as well.

By the time the Buckeyes arrive at the big house, Tate Forcier will have had eleven games under his belt.

This years Wolverines don't have nearly as much fire power as the 2003 team did by any stretch of the imagination, but in Rich Rodriguez's spread offense you really never know who will step up on any given Saturday.
