Ok, here is why the Knicks suck. This season, you had Isiah Thomas as head coach. You could be the Celtics or the Lakers, and with Isiah as your head coach, you would suck. He should never have ever started coaching, it ruined his entire reputation.
Here is what I am expecting this off-season from their staff.
July 16th: New York Knicks trade David Lee and a second round pick to the Suns for center Shaquille O'Neal.
That would be an insanely stupid trade now wouldn't it? Well that's probably a trade Walsh and the boys would make.
With that same staff, they will NEVER be a good team. Mike D'Antoni is definitely a big step up from Thomas though. I'm not a big D'Antoni fan but I mean hey, I could do a better job of coaching then Isiah.
On the players side of things, there is only a small bit of people on their entire roster they should keep. David Lee, Renaldo Balkman, Wilson Chandler, Mardy Collins and Randolph Morris.
David Lee puts his heart into every game and gives it his all. You don't have to keep all of the others, but hey, they are young and could turn into something. Everyone else they should trade and start from scratch.
Zach Randolph, Eddie Curry, Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson, Quentin Richardson. All of these guys have good value, trade them to contenders. OK, maybe not Robinson because he is not bad and is still developing.
Trade Randolph for a mediocre youngster and a second round pick. Trade Eddie Curry for a first rounder, Starbury for a second rounder, a mediocre youngster and cash, and Richardson for a second rounder. Trade Fred Jones and Jared Jeffries for a second rounder and cash, and Crawford for a second rounder and a decent youngster.
Or, trade some of those players together and get a couple of first rounders and a couple of decent players. You would be set! Release Malik Rose and Jerome James for some extra cap space, do some good scouting and draft well.
If all this can be done the New York Knicks could be a plus 500 team again!
But not with these idiots at the helm! It seems like such an easy concept, but for some reason, these so called basketball experts can't do squat.

1. The Knicks don't have a 2nd rounder this year.
2. No one is trading for Randolph even if they have to give up just a mediocre youngster because the salaries wouldn't match.
3. No one in their right mind is trading a 1st rounder for Curry.
4. No one in their right mind is trading ANYTHING for Marbury when there's a good chance he won't even be a Knick by the time the trading deadline arrives.
5. No one is taking QRich's contract.
6. No one is taking Fred Jones and Jared Jeffries' massive contract for cash and a 2nd rounder.
7. The Knicks aren't about to GIVE away Crawford for a 2nd rounder.
Sounds like you're the idiot. Learn something about basketball, the salary cap, and trading rules before making posts like these.
You are not a basketball expert and as such, are in no position to judge those that actually are.
Lesson complete.
Dismissed.

maybe try writing something before you critisize people

Unfortunately, I do have to agree with the aforementioned assessment, although I definitely would have put it much more politely. For all of the reasons Isiah listed and more, many of your ideas simply would not be practicable. Don't stress it though, keep up the writing.

The Knicks suck because of dumb articles like this
from 4 months ago
If that were true they would have been able to have a winning season before this article, they are pathetic.

The feel dumber from reading this.

actually someone would trade for Marbury this year because he has a $21 million dollar expiring contract which is very valuable for a team trying to get under the cap.... how about this trade for fun, marbury and a 1st rounder to phoenix for shaq.. the knicks would probably be stupid enough to do that

T.J., You write--"That would be an insanely stupid trade now wouldn't it? Well that's probably a trade Walsh and the boys would make. With that same staff, they will NEVER be a good team." This statement is proof that you are the one that sucks, because you wrote an article about the Knicks without even knowing that Donnie Walsh is the NEW man in charge. He is not part of the "same staff", and has done nothing to indicate he will do the stupid stuff you are writing about. Anyway, why qould you waste your time writing something so stupid

Someone actually wrote this??? Wow.

I thought this out pretty well the other day and matched salaries. I know it’s better than the crap that was put up here and no, we can’t just wait on Lebron.
If I’m Walsh:
1. Keep Lee, Crawford, Robinson, Chandler, Rose, and Morris (re-sign). I don’t think anyone would disagree except for Rose and Morris. With Morris, there isn’t a team that’s going to just throw money at him and we really haven’t seen him play. Its little risk with a surprise opportunity for big gain in Mike D's system. With Rose, I would like to see a strong veteran presence on the team, a player guys could respect every time he talks. We have to pay him another 7 mil then he’s gone. I think he would take pride in this opportunity b4 fading out of the NBA with Marbury gone.
2. Buy out James and Marbury. Marbury may excel in Mike D's system but he's a cancer and needs to be away from all the kids that aren’t trying to have a loser’s legacy like Starfairy.
3. Trade Curry to Memphis for Mike Miller and the #5 pick. Memphis wants another big man well they gott'em. They are getting him a lot cheaper than NY did.
4. Mardy Collins and cash to Utah for the #22 pick. Collins isn’t the quickest but would be much better in Utah’s true Half-court style. He's tall and a better than average defender. Jason Hart was a bust so it’s cheaper and worth the shot for Utah.
5. Sign Josh Childress to the mid-level. He would be perfect for Mike D's system and would probably love to give it a run. The Hawks most likely would match but it is more than worth the try.
6. With draft picks 5, 6, and 22 draft Danilo Gallinari, DeAndre Jordan, and Chris Douglas-Roberts. DG can play both forward positions and is a gifted scorer. CDR should be a steal that late in the draft and a lot of boards have him going even later. DJ is big risk but big gain. Playing for the coach that is most sought after to play for may give him a reason to be as great as some believe he can be.
So far so good. Now this is where I will probably get some static.
7. Trade Q-Rich and Balkman to Golden State for Monta Ellis (sign and trade). GS is getting $0.65 on the dollar but it wouldn’t be the first time. Q can play their up-tempo game as he did it well with the Suns. He has already been working toward that form with Mike D in town. Balkman gives them a defensive presence and is all hustle. He seemed to have fallen out of favor with Isaiah during the year but I don’t believe you can judge him as Isaiah seems to have done nothing right. There have already been whispers about Ellis wanting to play for Mike D (google it). With their center of the future needing to be signed and with Barron Davis making 17 million a year how much is Mullin willing to pay for that one position? If Ellis wants it enough he may be able to force a sign and trade to NY.
8. Trade Randolph and Jefferies to Indiana for Jermane O'Neal. For NY it’s a no-brainer. JO even sheds 20 million off the books soon. Why does Indiana do it? Zach’s scoring and rebounding numbers are close to JO but can’t play half the defense JO does. With the emergence of Dunleavy last year it would give Indy a great inside-out game. Troy Murphy is not a starter and Randolph would be a considerable upgrade (Jeffries just makes the numbers work). Also Indy is lucky to get 50 games out of JO a year. Randolph is younger and more durable. Even as cap space there is only so much you can expect to get back for JO. Ask the Knicks how hard it is to try and trade Marbury.
That creates a line-up that looks like this:
PG- Ellis Robinson
SG- Crawford Miller
SF- Childress Chandler
PF- Lee Gallinari
C- O'Neal Jordan
Others: Malik Rose, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Randolph Morris
Not only does that look like a great team for Mike D's system today but it also creates cap space for 2010 as desired. Also you have the right pieces to step up as the bigger contracts are allowed to expire. This would also set the ground work for proper financial responsibility for years to come and above all allow me to feel proud to ask anyone to turn on the Knicks game so I can see the score.
