Demetrious Johnson has reportedly been forced to withdraw from his title fight against Wilson Reis at UFC 201 because of an injury, according to Globo (h/t MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani).
The two were scheduled to compete for the UFC Flyweight Championship at Philips Arena in Atlanta on July 30.
It was announced in May that Johnson and Reis would square off with the flyweight strap on the line, and the fight figured to generate plenty of hype since both fighters were coming off strong showings earlier in the year.
Johnson most recently defeated Henry Cejudo by first-round knockout at UFC 197 on April 23, while Reis sent Dustin Ortiz packing by unanimous decision on Jan. 30 at a UFC Fight Night event.
All told, "Mighty Mouse" has rattled off 10 straight wins since he fought Ian McCall to a draw in March 2012.
But with the flyweight title holder reportedly unable to compete, UFC will need to scramble and try to find another opponent who's comfortable fighting Reis on three weeks notice.
If there's any good news it's that the promotion will have at least a little breathing room when it comes to coming up with a contingency plan for the co-main event, unlike Jon Jones' abrupt withdrawl from UFC 200.
