The Problem With the "Cleveland Browns" Is "Cleveland"

J HartmanCorrespondent ISeptember 30, 2009

Browns fans are losing their minds, and they don't even know why!  They need look no further than their beloved team's first name.............CLEVELAND!

Cleveland has had all of two Hall of Fame players in the last several decades.

Cleveland has had a parade of head coaches who were either first-time head coaches or failures at their previous location, all of whom were failures in Cleveland (with the exception of Marty Schottenheimer, who they fired).

You can count on one hand the top free agents who have gone to Cleveland in the past several decades. The list of Browns general managers won't exactly bring back memories of great football minds either.

Why?

It's pretty simple really...what proven coach, GM, or player would want to go to Cleveland?  The city is a disaster, its officials are buffoons, its school systems are a joke, the list goes on.

So, if you are a Browns fan and you really want to see a good team in Cleveland in your lifetime, you better look to your city for the long-term answer.  For many, this is too little, too late, because this is something which will take many, many, years of hard work to fix.

In the mean time, the search may already be on for the coach of the Browns for 2010.
