TROUBLES IN OAKTOWN..................

tony salernoContributor ISeptember 29, 2009

I look at this organization and scratch my head....A once proud, competitive, physical team has sunk to being one of the worst football teams in America..... It seems to have started with that thrashing Tampa Bay gave them in the super bowl....They never recovered..... After they lost Rich Gannon to injury forcing him into retirement, they collapsed... I blame the Al Davis and his management team for the decline the past six years..He has been determined to get back to excellence overnite..With complete control of the RAIDERS, he was, and is going to do it his way, or no way. When he hired John Gruden, i thought that might be the best move Al has ever made. That didnt work out, because AL wasnt patient enough. Win now!!!  The modern game of football just passed Al Davis by........I think he knows that, but is so bull-headed, he is going to do this thing his way, period... Good NFL coaches wont come to Oakland. With no control of team or players you just wont get a decent coach......They have a line coach as a head coach, calling the offense plays... Whats that tell you??He just doesnt have the experience to do a decent job. They have some great individual talent, but no direction. They should run the ball, and i think the wildcat suites this team well. Alot of team speed with MCFADDEN, BUSH, HAYWOOD-BEY,MURPHY. MCFADDEN ran the wildcat at ARKANSAS, and was very sucessful at it. You keep RUSSELL limited time on the field, and you get your play-makers involved.. My options would be run some wildcat, or go get JEFF GARCIA back, recently released by PHILLY, and bench RUSSELL. If they continue to deal with RUSSELL, they are looking at possibly a 2-14 season..... Only winnable game on that schedule would be the BROWNS in week 16...Big trouble in OAKTOWN!!!
