Every year in college sports, fans and experts begin the talk about who is the best college QB. This does not mean the best NFL prospect but, it shows who is the best of games most important position. The first people that come to many people's minds might be players like Tim Tebow, or Sam Bradford. Yet this year has been extremely unpredictable and some players have gained alot of momentum. Qb have fallen this year (Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow) that have shaken this years QB's up and given this years crop a whole new feel.
Tim Tebow, Florida
I know, the first things that comes to mid is why is he at number 5. The truth is Tebow's numbers have not been that impressive. His stats have taken a huge hit this season thus far. At the pace Tebow is going he will throw for 1900 yards and 20 touchdowns. That is pretty disappointing for someone like Tebow. Now with the apparent injury he may miss games and his stats might not be even that high. The only reason Tebow is on this list right now is because his team is undefeated and he is a great "player" but, as a QB he is over-rated.
4. Ryan Mallett, Arkansas
Ryan Mallett has been amazing over a three game stretch. He threw for over 400 yards and five touchdowns against Georgia and his team still lost. Right now Arkansas has terrible weapons and their defense looks like a paper bag trying to hold water. But as a QB, and as a individual he is doing awesome. With a little more time in Bobby's offense I look for Mallett to be the top QB the next couple years.
3. Jacory Harris, Miami (Fla.)
The youngster has done awesome recently. He meet a little snag against Virginia Tech, but he is looking poised and really sharp with his throws. Next year look out for Harris to me a top QB.
2. Tony Pike, Cinncinnati
Tony Pike has been absolutely flawless this season. He is on pace for 3600 yards with 33 touchdowns. He leads an undefeated team, that looks really legit. He has a great weapon in Gilyard, and a good run game. The biggest thing that impresses me about Pike is his leadership. It had to be hard to take control of that locker room, after being fourth on the depth chart. I look for Pike to continue to develop he get even better.
1. Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame
This has been the year of Clausen. Jimmy has done incredible this season throwing for 300 yards in his first three games and didn't throw a pick. He literally was flawless. Then following his team getting pounded and him throwing a pick to Purdue. Clause returned in the fourth to lead his team on a game winning drive that capped off with a touchdown pass with 24 second remaining on fourth down. He has done everything perfect this season. His one major flaw was his teams loss to Michigan which they should have won. That was his best game of the season.
Honorable mention
Greg McElroy- might be more than a game manager.
Case Keenum- putting up video game numbers in that spread.
Colt McCoy- Throwing picks like a mad man, doesn't look like the accurate pin point passer of a year ago.
Kellan Moore-leads an undefeated team that looks like they might be playing for the national championship
Chris Todd-leads an undefeated hungry Auburn team.
Todd Reesing-so solid year after year.
Sam Bradford-got to feel for this guy if it wasn't for the injury he would be on the top of this list for sure.
