The Absolute 10 Best Things To Watch, Listen To, and Talk About In The SEC!

It doesn't matter who you root for or who you despise the SEC is the best conference to watch and talk about in all football. It has all the hits of the NFL and all the drama of the WWE.
If anybody can name a better conference in college football to be passionate about I will call them a liar. So here we go with the best subjects to be crazy about in this 2009 edition of our favorite league.
Eric Berry
Before the concussion there was the collision between Berry and Tim. If this is not the best safety in all football he's pretty darn close. It does not matter if you like Tennessee or not anyone with a pulse for college football can enjoy watching this guy play.
Was there ever a player more custom made to play for Monte? I think not he is a cross between a Peterbuilt and a Mustang. Get in his way and he will run you over give him the ball and he is gone baby solid gone.
Auburn's Offense
Seriously back in August who thought that Auburn would be this good? Even the most die hard fans of the Tigers did not think Auburn could move the ball like this.
They are tied for 1st in yards per game at 526.3, 3rd in points per game at 45.3, 5th in rushing yards per game at 261.3, and 27th in passing yard per game at 265. Not only that Chris Todd formally known as Mr. Noodle Arm is the 6th most efficient passer in the country. Even if the competition has not been that great these numbers would be impressive against AIR!!!
All in all hasn’t almost every team in the SEC improved on offense well with the exception of the Vols. I thought Lane was an O.C. at USC?
The Commish
Bless his poor little heart. Can you imagine being this guy?
One minute your landing the biggest TV deal ever and the next your separating two grown men acting like spoiled rotten brats. This guy has got to be one of the best leaders in America.
Seriously how great is he? He was the first to suggest in a formal meeting to the BCS and Big Six reps that college football needed a playoff after a school from his conference had won the Nation Title. The only thing he has done that was great for this conference and football in general was the 28 scholarship limit. Other than that great job COMMISH!
Drama and Lane Kiffin
This is a tie for me because the SEC had drama before Lane but not this much. A behind the scenes look into the programs at Florida and Tennessee could be the greatest reality show ever, and if not I bet you if run in the daytime it beats any soap out there in ratings.
How many people have lost respect for Urban Myer for stooping down to Lane’s level? Better question who cares? It is great and entertaining. Here we have a two-time National Championship coach smack talking and bickering with a guy who made Al Davis look competent.
Thanks to these two we now officially have moral victories.
The latest drama is the Tim Tebow brain bounce. I know it serious but still it has been 3 days and it is already played out. Yet everyone still watches and checks online for the latest on Tim’s head. I love it! TNT may know drama but the SEC has drama.
Those Whacky Tigers
What can I say about these guy’s that you don't already know. How can you have this much talent and under-perform every single week. They almost lost to MSU!! If nothing else they are for sure entertaining to watch if you’re not an LSU fan.
LSU could go on to win the west, SEC, maybe even the National Title, or they could lose every game left on their schedule. That is what makes them so interesting no one knows.
They struggled against UW (uh oh). UW beat USC (hell yeah). UW got waxed by Stanford who has a tree for a mascot and a gpa higher than their yards per play(say what). Auburn waxed MSU(so). MSU beat LSU everywhere but on the scoreboard(HOW). So there is no way to know what LSU is or will be for right now. Who will win in Athens is the great question of the week.
Is this the sturdy pound it out win em all close championship caliber team or the most Overrated team in America?
Defensive Units and Players
Who has the best defense in America? It is debatable between Florida and Alabama. What is not up for argument is that the best defense and defense's reside in the SEC. Eight teams in SEC are in the top 50 for total ypg four in top 15, and eight teams in points pg with four in top 15. Alabama and Florida rate in the top 10 in all but one category and are no lower than 33rd in any.
Also where else in the country do fans know more defensive player's names than offensive? This is the only league in college football that complains about high scoring games. Why? We love our defensive struggles and hard hitting matchups. It is what this league was built on.
The best players in the SEC are on the defensive side of the ball. Oh sure there’s Mallett, Tebow, Snead, Jones, Green, and a slew of running backs, but the other side of the ball is where the Pro scouts go Apecrap.
McClain, Norwood, and Spikes could be the best linebackers in college football, and there are about 25 NFL teams that would trade their linebackers for that Trio in a heartbeat. At DL there is an NFL front on almost all the teams. Mount Cody, G. Hardy, C. Dunlap, Alem, and A. Coleman all could go in the first day of the draft. DB's in the SEC are so fast they are approaching the speed of sound. Eric Berry is probably the best player in college football. Then you have Arenas, Haden, Black, and Jones all of whom could play at the next level.
The sad thing is that I have barley even scratched the surface of Defensive talent scattered throughout this league. That is the statement of the SEC D-Fence!!
The Coaches
One-third of the coaches in this league have National Titles. Five different coaches have an SEC title, and seven have multiple 10 win seasons. No other conference can even come close to making those statements. This is the only conference in America where two coaches were fired with over a 70 percent winning record, an undefeated season, and one even had a national title.
The best recruiters in America are either head coaches in the SEC or on their staffs. With the exception of Pete Caroll and Joe Pa, who don't face near the competition on the field or sideline that is in the SEC, no other conference could produce a coach that would even be in the top three in the SEC.
These guys are winners and eat, sleep, and breathe football. Hobbies... the only hobby an SEC coach has is recruiting. Sure there are a few coaches who still have a lot to prove but overall this is the greatest collection of coaches in football.
Tim Tebow
Look up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It's Superman!!!
Who would have thought Tim's kryptonite would be the blue of Kentucky? Either way everyone is human, but everyone outside of Florida already knew that. No matter what becomes of the concussion Tim Tebow is still the most incredible person in football.
A leader on the field and a role model off it. This kid just makes you want to watch to see when he will mess up. You either love him or you hate him because you envy him. For all the adults out there no matter what team you root for how proud would you be if Tim Tebow was your child’s role model. Seriously, how awesome would it be for your kid to want to do mission work, stay a virgin, abstain from drinking, and be a good student?
That is just in his spare time! Meanwhile his full-time job no matter what NCAA 20 hour rule is in effect is playing football for the No. 1 team in the country. All this kid does is win and play with 120 percent on every down and play. Every coach in the world wishes they had a player with the ethics, discipline, faith, and ability of Tim Tebow.
Unpredictablity
We can guess, predict, and speculate all year long but between the end of August through beginning of January you never know what will happen.
Last year who thought Bama would go 12-2, Ole Miss would beat Florida, LSU would be 3-5 in league play, and Auburn who started No. 9 would not even go bowling? No one thought it because it couldn’t happen not in the SEC.
Every year we get surprised, who thought this year Alabama and Auburn would lead the west and most of the country in Offense? Steve Spurrier would be in position to bust into the top 25? LSU would be looking like LSwho( I know their ranked but come on)? Lastly who thought Gene Chizick would have a better offense than defense?
This is where the SEC is just like the rest of college football you just truly never know what is going to happen. No. 4 Ole Miss 10 unranked USC 16, ok well maybe a lot of people saw that coming but you get the point.
The Fans
Really is there a more passionate fan base on the planet! Not just for their own team but for the conference. You don't hear the Pac-10 or Big 12 chanting their conferences name after a bowl win but you will hear S-E-C after ever big non-con victory.
SEC fans are more loyal to their schools than most people are to their spouses. The divorce rate in America is at nearly 50 percent what do you think is the percent of fans who switch teams. In other regions of the country they treat football like a sport down here we treat it like a religion. Fan bases are rabid and hateful you’re in or you’re out. Everyone thinks the others fans are crazy and horrible people. It is great!! I mean really would you want it any other way?
My grandpa told me the south is about two things Jesus and football! Well grandpa it’s probably a lot closer than it used to be.
