The Vitali Klitschko-Chris Arreola fight sold out the massive Staples Center Saturday night. There was the predominantly Mexican crowd, the Ukrainian crowd, the Inland Empire crowd, and of course, this being in Los Angeles, where the Lakers play, you had the biggest celebrities on the planet taking up a few dozen ringside seats.

Oscar De La Hoya Statue

Display_image

For those of you who do not know, there is an Oscar De La Hoya statue right outside of the Staples Center.

I remember they revealed it right before his fight with Manny Pacquiao, but I never saw it until that night. He's the Golden Boy, not the bronze boy, so give him a golden statue or at least a golden one with chocolate on the inside!

What Round Is It Again?

Display_image

Just to remind us what round we are watching we have these nice, round reminders. Notice the sign she is holding is pretty ghetto and seems to be hand written with a magic marker? What's up with that?

Just when you thought Ed Hardy was only for "D-BAGS" who are trying to keep up with the fashion of three years ago, we have our ring card girls wearing it now, too.

The Mighty Jumbotron up Top

Display_image

The mighty Jumbotron up top allows the fans with the nose bleed seats to see up close and personal what's happening inside that ring. Thankfully, I had a great seat and was up close to where all the action took place.

Whenever the camera showed the ringside celebrities, the 18,000 fans cheered or booed at the top of their lungs.

Pretty much everyone got cheers. The loudest cheers hands down went to "captain save L.A.," Kobe Bryant. He will be making an appearance in this slide show later.

Second loudest cheers were for actor Leonardo Dicaprio.

The loudest boos hands down went to Arnold "Governator" Schwarzenegger. It appears the 18,000 fans are not too happy about California's governor for some reason. Must be the economy or unemployment (among other things) I assume.

Surprisingly, Vitali's brother, heavyweight champion Wladimir, got some pretty loud boos as well. I wonder why. Did they think Vitali was going to tag team Wladimir to come into the ring and start pounding on Arreola?

Also, not surprisingly, Lauren Conrad of MTV's the Hills got some pretty loud boos as well. I can bet my condo and my Lexus that Lauren does not know crap about the sport of boxing and probably needed her assistant to explain to her what the hell is going on. Oh wait, it was Hayden Panettiere? Same thing.

Ringside with the Legendary Jim Lampley

Display_image

Here's a photo of the legendary Jim Lampley doing what he does best: Calling the fights into the HBO camera before the fighters enter the ring.

This is when he is doing a live interview with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. via satellite from Floyd's crib in Las Vegas.

I finally met this legend that night as you will see in a photo of both of us later on in this slide show.

Ukrainian Boxing Show?

Display_image

So about 30 feet above the ringside seats was a stage shooting a live show that appeared to be a Ukrainian Boxing Show. They spell boxing "boxen" over there apparently.

The Spanish speaking people spell boxing "boxeo."

So, about 30 minutes later, a Ukrainian Ryan Seacrest comes out and interviews Iron Mike Tyson up there.

Mike Tyson and Wladimir Klitschko

So, here we have the Ukrainian Ryan Seacrest interviewing Mike Tyson and Wladimir Klitschko.

For those of you who do not know, Mike Tyson is still the man and still makes the crowds wild today. The whole time they were doing this show much of Staples Center kept screaming, "Tyson!" and he kept turning around to wave to them and they got even louder.

A lot of people still hound Mike Tyson for autographs and pictures wherever he goes.

I met Wladimir Klitschko after the fight and he was a real class act. You see this evidence later on the slide show.

All the fine Ukrainian women love him and were trying to talk to him.

Yellow and Blue Flags

Yellow and blue, representing the Ukraine flag with (even the name Klitschko in rainbow colors). Very pretty colors.

Reminded me of Easter time and painting eggs as a kid for some reason.

Dr. Iron Fist is Walking Toward the Ring

Display_image

Dr. Iron Fist came into the ring with what sounded like some AC/DC song.

Sorry, I was in the Ukrainian section so it was rather loud to hear what song it was over the loud cheers.

Chris Arreola walked into the ring before him as the challenger to Jay-Z's "Run This Town." I guess the local Riverside rappers don't carry enough swagger for the nightmare?

The Nightmare Kept Coming Forward at Dr. Iron Fist for 10 Rounds

Display_image

Chris "the Nightmare" Arreola did not back up once as he kept coming forward at champion Vitali Klitschko all 10 rounds.

Arreola was the 2009 text book definition of a true Mexican warrior that night!

Dr. Iron Fist Climbs the Ropes of the Ring To Wave to His Fans

Display_image

Dr. Iron Fist wins a TKO victory over Arreola, handing him his first hard-fought loss of his career.

I think Vitali had to climb up on the ropes to make himself appear a little bit taller. Being 6'7" might make a man insecure about his height.

Vitali Is So Fast!

Display_image

Vitali is so fast that even when he stands still for my photo his hands are still moving, throwing a quick punch as this photo displays a blur around his powerful right hand.

King J and Legendary Jim Lampley

Display_image

Look guys, let's keep it real. Jim Lampley is the man!

We'd all trade places with him in a heart beat. He has the real life dream job.
He has called some of the greatest boxing fights in history, is the face of American media, reports the Olympics, appeared in classic Will Ferrell flicks, Rocky flicks, and Balls of Fury, all playing himself since no movie character can be written about a cooler person.

He's romantically linked to only the most beautiful woman on the planet. In fact, his female friend was kind enough to take this picture of us. I did not even ask her to; she just grabbed my camera and told Jim to pose for me.

Jim's a really great guy. He's really nice and as charming as he is in front of the HBO cameras.

It was truly a honor to meet and take this picture with him.

Mike Tyson Walking with Wife in the VIP Exit Hallway

Display_image

For those of you who ever wondered how the VIP exit hallway looks at the bottom of the Staples Center, It looks like any basement of a stadium.

Mike Tyson is seen here walking through it with his wife and going home as several photographers try to snap a shot of the once "baddest man on the planet."

Too bad I did not have my old school legendary Nintendo 'Mike Tyson's Punch Out" handy for him to sign. That still is the greatest game of all time.

Tyson is still the man!

Wladimir Klitschko, A.K.A Dr. Steelhammer

Display_image

Look on the latest cover of Ring Magazine and you have three of the top boxers in the world on the cover. Notice all three are not American but are the most dominant heavy handed knockout artists in the game.

Also notice that your copy doesn't have Wladimir's autograph because you were not ringside getting Wladimir to sign your copy between taking pics with all his hot Ukrainian female fans.

Dr. Steelhammer is a really nice guy. I'm going to write an article on him soon.

Kobe Reminds Everyone Whose Playground Staples Center Is

Display_image

So right in the middle of the post fight conference, some basketball player accidentally walks right in. Maybe he thought he was finishing one of his own games and had to do the postgame conference. I forgot his name, but I heard he is pretty darn good at basketball.

But seriously, this man got the loudest cheers in the stadium by a mile. L.A. really admires number No. 24.

It's too bad my basketball was tucked away in the trunk of my Lexus inside my Jordan gym bag...damn!

Thanks, Kobe, for all the championships you bring to this fake city. We love you.

In closing, I want to say Chris Arreola made a statement at this fight that he will always bring that true warrior spirit and give it his all every time he steps in the ring. I feel Chris won over a lot of new fans and I feel he will be a champion soon—probably within the next two years or sooner (hopefully). Thanks for a great fight, Chris, and thank you to Vitali Klitschko, who's always a great fight whenever I see you fight at the Staples Center.

Thanks to all the fans who enjoyed this slide show. We will keep them coming as long as they keep on making great, exciting fights to watch.
