What a weekend of football; so many great stories, and I had to pick the top 5 that were the best of the weekend. We had upsets, big-time plays, and a win for first time in a while.

I learned that if you want to make it bad enough, no matter how bad it is, you can make it.

A Star is Born and So is the Light in a Team

0 for what in there last 19 games? You must be talking about those win-less Detroit Lions. Everybody knows the news, the Lions went into Sundays game against the Washington Redskins on a19 game losing streak starting all the way back from last season. The Lions get the number one draft pick and draft Matthew Stafford Quarter back out of University of Georgia. Daunte Culpepper looked to be the starter going into the season, because you always let a rookie QB sit and get adjusted to the game. The Lions went the complete other way and threw Stafford into the Lions Den we call ruining rookie QB's that play for the Detroit Lions.

Stafford came out on top Sunday leading to the Lions first win after the departure of Matt Millen. He wasn't great, but he got the job done and showed he can make the throws everybody expects him to make.

Here are the stats:

Matthew Stafford 21 of 36 for 241 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions

Not only was Stafford great, but everybody on that team played well enough to win. Sure the defense gave up 325 rushing yards, but they only gave up 65 rushing yards. The defense kept Clinton Portis in check the whole game and made Cambell try to beat them with his arm. The Lions have found they actually have some bite and they aren't afraid to use it.

Fun fact:

Since the Lions' last win, the Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings have combined to win 315 regular-season games.

The Few, The Proud, The Black and Orange

CINCINNATI - SEPTEMBER 27: Carson Palmer #9 of the Cincinnati Bengals celebrates with teammate Andrew Whitworth #77 after throwing for the game winning touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Paul Brown Stadium on September 27, 2009 in Cincinnati, O

The Bengals have earned their stripes...for at least one week. The Cinicinnati Bengals beat the who? Yes it is true, the Cincinnati Bengals beat the defending Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers 23-20 on a 14 yard TD pass from Carson Palmer to Andre Caldwell with 14 seconds left on the clock. Carson Palmer was effective, the running game was productive, and the defense hung in there long enough for the W. With the win, the Bengals snapped an 8 game home losing streak to the Steelers, and that includes the playoffs. This team has heart and that swag back in their tails, all except this it isn't between their legs.

Fun Facts

Sunday's game against the Bengals was Ben Roethlisberger's first loss in the state of Ohio as Pittsburgh's starting QB (now 11-1)

The Bengals are now 5-1 in their last six games overall dating back to last season

Ravens Flying High With Flacco and Defense

The Ravens are flying high and fast to the top of the league behind the arm of Joe Flacco, the running game of Ray Rice and Willis McGahee, and the stingy defense we have loved over the last few years. The Ravens shredded the Cleveland Browns in every aspects of the game Sunday. With the win the Ravens improved to 3-0 on the season. Flacco is showing his success as a rookie is no joke and that he is the starting quarterback for the Ravens for many years. He not only threw for a career high 342 yards and 1 touchdown, he is being extremely accurate with the ball. Through 3 games he has completed 65.4% of his passes, not bad for a guy with his arm strength (look at Jamarcus Russell and his arm strength and accuracy for the negative side). The defense is staying healthy and is mean, greedy, and ready to knock you out. With the way they are playing, they have to be consider as one of the best in the game right now.

Fun Fact

McGahee's two rushing touchdowns gave him five for the season, which leads the NFL.

Rookie QB 3-0, Not Until Now

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - SEPTEMBER 27: Mark Sanchez #6 of The New York Jets passes against The Tennessee Titans during their game on September 27, 2009 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images)

No rookie QB has ever started 3-0 until now. Wasn't Dan Marino, Joe Montana, or Johnny Unitas. QB Mark Sanchez of the New York Jets is the first rookie QB to start a season 3-0. Sanchez went 17-30 for 171 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT. With the combined effort of his running game behind him and the top defense in the league, the Jets have helped him ease into the NFL and have made him be a factor by not putting games on his shoulders.

Fun Facts

Sanchez threw for two touchdowns and also had a 14-yard TD run, the longest by Jets QB since Richard Todd rushed for a 31-yard score in 1980.

What's So Magical About the #4? Ask the Count

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - SEPTEMBER 27: Quarterback Brett Favre #4 of the Minnesota Vikings pumps his fists in celebration after defeating the San Francisco 49ers 27-24 at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome on September 27, 2009 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Favre threw a

Brett Favre missed training camp and his teammates weren't 100% positive they wanted him, but all that is gone after his last second win against a revived San Francisco 49ers team. Favre once again showed he has the magic to win games, no matter how much time is on the clock. Favre finished 24 of 46 for 301 and 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. This is the reason the Vikings brought him in, to win games when they needed to with an arm. This is the season, THIS IS IT!

Fun Fact

Favre finished with 301 passing yards, the 56th 300-yard game of his career and first by a Vikings QB since Daunte Culpepper in 2005.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.
