Brett Favre is back, for good or ill.

Once again, Favre's late game heroics have propelled him to the forefront of the NFL - maybe not as a fantasy option, maybe not as a statistics darling - but as the gutsy, gritty game-winner we've known him as for the past 17 years (and counting).

On the heels of another fourth quarter comeback, let's take a look at ten of the best moments in Brett Favre's career.

#10: Shocking The Seminoles, Cutting The Cards

On September 2nd, 1989, Favre showed flashes of his future fourth quarter grit when he led his Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles to a comeback victory over then-ranked Florida State.

Favre put on a six-and-a-half minute drive that ended in a touchdown pass with :23 seconds left on the clock to defeat the sixth-ranked Seminoles in his junior year.

Later in 1989, Favre's Golden Eagles were tied with the Louisville Cardinals with under a minute to go, on their own twenty yard line. Favre would again show his comeback capability with this Hail Mary to stun the Cards:

#9: Take Favre Out! Er, Bring Him Back In!

In Favre's third game as a Packer, starting QB Don Majkowski injured an ankle ligament, and Favre was put in. He fumbled four times (he's always been a turnover machine) and had the crowd chanting for his removal...

Until the fourth quarter. Down 23-17, with his team on the Green Bay 8-yard line, Favre drove down the field, hitting Sterling Sharpe for a 42-yarder and Kitrick Taylor for the game winner with 13 seconds to go.

Favre got the start the next week against the Steelers, beginning the longest streak of starts by an NFL quarterback that has still not been broken.

#8: Favre's Best Victory As A Jet

Throwing six touchdown passes against the eventual Super Bowl contender Arizona Cardinals might be Favre's best as a Jet, but his gutsiest performance came against the New England Patriots on November 13, 2008.

That week, Favre showed he hadn't lost his accuracy on screens as his Jets jumped out to early scores.

But the Patriots fought back, eventually retaking the lead. Favre led his team down the field for a fourth quarter drive to tie the game and a drive in overtime to win it, avenging an earlier loss to the Patriots in the Jets' home opener.

#7: Favre Keeps It For The Win

Most last-minute Favre wins came on a ballsy pass.

But on December 18, 1994, Favre won it for the Pack by tucking it for himself, diving into the endzone with 14 seconds to go to ice the game against the Falcons. The game marked a quiet vengeance for Favre, whom the Falcons had drafted and then traded after one year.

The game, crucial to putting the Pack in the playoffs for a the last one played at County Stadium in Milwaukee.

#6: The Kid Puts The Pack In The NFC Championship

January 6th, 1996: Favre led his Packers on the road to San Francisco and upset the heavily-favored 49ers to put the Pack in the NFC Championship game for the first time since 1967. Favre put up 222 yards in the first half en route to the 27-17 victory.

#5: Favre's Packers Roll Over The Seahawks

After extremely difficult campaigns in 2005, the Pack's first losing season in over a decade, and 2006, questions were swirling like snowflakes over whether Favre was still the winner of his youthful days.

Then the Packers started winning, and winning, and at crucial times. Green Bay's '07 divisional playoff win over the Seattle Seahawks marked the most points scored by the Pack in the postseason in their long history.

The Packers would come crashing down the next week, losing to the Giants in the Ice Bowl on a crucial Favre interception. But for the time being, Favre had the nation believing again.

#4: Coughing Up Blood, Favre Bests The Steelers

Before the constant questions about his viability or his health, Favre set the standard for steely resilience.

On December 24, 1995, after getting crushed by three Steelers players, the Packers took a time out to allow Favre time to cough up blood.

Favre then came back on the field to toss a one-yard touchdown to Mark Chmura to put his team up 24-19. When Steelers' receiver Yancey Thigpen dropped the game-winner for Pittsburgh in the endzone, an exhausted Packer audience was able to catch their breath, upon winning their first division title since 1979.

#3: Beating The 49ers On A Hail Mary

The most recent victory obviously ranks high for Favre, who despite being 2-0 had been the subject of criticism for whether he still had the grit in him.

#2: Against The Raiders, Favre Commemorates His Father

Brett Favre makes no secret of the victories that mean a lot to him.

A day after his father's death, Favre made the start against the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football, passing for four touchdowns in the first half, 299 yards overall, en route to a 41-7 victory. Even Raider Nation had to stand and applaud.

Favre, named NFC Offensive Player Of The Week and would win an ESPY for the performance, said the only recognition important to him was his father's, and added that he "knew he was watching".

#1: The Ring

He's only got one, but Brett Favre's Super Bowl Ring was won on a legendary performance against the New England Patriots in 1997.

Favre threw three touchdown passes to cap off his third-straight MVP winning season, and the Packers dominated the Patriots on defense and special teams en route to a 35-21 win.
