With Zoltan Mesko graduating we needed a solid punter badly in the 2010 class. The 6'4" Hangerup, who hails from Wisconsin, is considered one of the top punters in the country and selected U of M over the likes of OSU and Florida. Welcome to the Wolverine family, Will!
Here is ESPN's scouting report:
Hagerup is a very competitive and hard working punter/kicker. He has received more Division I offers than any other 2010 kicking prospect. The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder has a great punting frame and also plays tight end for his high school football team. His brother currently is the starting punter at Indiana. He has had multiple great performances at Kohl's kicking camp and he can hit punts that have more than a five second hang time. His drop table is low and his leg swing is consistent and straight. Hagerup gets great toe depression on his punts, has proven himself in pressure situations and may also be able to kickoff in college.
