MLB, AL East, NL East, Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Rays, New York Mets, Brian Schneider, Fantasy

You find yourself in need of a great fantasy catcher, about two months into the season.  You've been through names like JR Towles (Houston) and Brian Schneider (New York Mets), but you're looking for that name that you can put in that spot and keep there for a while.  Here are a few names that you should consider for your fantasy catching needs.

Ramon Hernandez, Baltimore Orioles

Sure, he has had problems with his wrist.  His problems with his wrist has devalued him an incredible amount, and he is a great bargain at this point. Remember, Hernandez has been a solid fantasy backstop in the past, showing good plate patience and good power.  Buy low on Ramon, and watch your catching spot fix itself!

Dioner Navarro, Tampa Bay Rays

While the Rays have seen incredible success this season, many people overlook the contribution that Navarro has provided to this young squad.  He has contributed a .361 batting average with one HR and 18 RBI, but even more important is his stellar on-base percentage: .400.  As a fantasy owner, you have to love the fact that Navarro is getting on base at such a high rate.  He is taken in the majority of leagues, but if he is still available in your league, definitely pick up the awesome former top prospect.

Ryan Doumit, Pittsburgh Pirates

Doumit's success for the Pirates this year has been well documented.  However, fantasy owners are still overlooking the Pirates for fantasy talent.  That may make Doumit somewhat of an undervalued commodity in your league.  We all know that Nate McLouth has been nothing short of stellar, but Doumit has some major power and a great batting eye.  His time spent on the DL has been quick, so monitor his progress, as he could return as early as next Wednesday.
