Great article Stevens.. I have to go with Ryan here.. I didn't see much in the headline, but it was a good read.
I completely agree with that corner flag incident - I remember that Chelsea did the same thing against Arsenal when we were down to 9 men at Stamford Bridge and did manage to score.. I would have thought that it was a Mourinho thing if he were there - but now I feel that it is a Chelsea thing.. somehow they lack the class or the sportsmanship of most of the top sides..

Great Leader??? A man's man, would have heald his chin up and his chest out, looked all the Man Utd players in the eye when he shook their hands and congratulated them on their victory.
He is supposed to be the England captain. I am embarrassed that he is the symbol of our country. No virtue, dignity or grace. His behaviour after the Carling Cup final was immature. YOU LOST FAIR AND SQUARE in that one too. Deal with it like a Captain of our nation and the Captain of our national sport. Would Bobby Moore or even Gary Lineker behave like this??? I doubt it....
Like so many pro' footballers, believes his own hype and lives in a surreal world where everything is done for him and people say how wonderful he is. When something happens that bursts there bubble they are not emotionally mature enough to deal with dissapointment.

to jelena, i being an england supporter though not living in england respected and revered john terry for his grit and tenacity. but for the past two seasons, john terry has turned this team of great individuals into a group of sadisitc school boys team who have not an iota of respect for the opponent and more importantly the game itself. and the reason i say it is because even after mourinho left, the team continued with their antics of surrounding the refree and almost man handling him.
i say, they are a team of winners, they will surely win something in the future but let me tell you this, a winner is always bigger in defeat. bigger in morality to at least give due bredit to those who defeated him. you don't win respect until you give respect to those who deserve it.

That is why I like Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs more than John "crying my heart out" Terry. Neville and Scholes had the class to go and try to conseole Terry after the game, something I dont think Terry would have ever done had the roles been reversed on that amazing night in Moscow. Ryan Giggs has never complained one bit despite being left out of the 1st team so many times this season. Another team's captain would have been making snide comments to the media, trying to disturb the team and being a cry-baby. Giggs didnt even take any of the 1st 6 penalties in the shootout, opting to send other players instead and only came in after all the strikers and midfielders had gone. Terry on the other hand went over Kalou(who I feel is often underrated at Chelsea) and Anelka(which might have yielded the same result), who had refused to take the earlier penalties coz he had not had the time to warm up. At least Rio Ferdinand has shown class, and despite his flare-up at the Bridge, he did apologize to the steward he accidently kicked. Simple put, Terry shouldnt be England captain, Ferdinand should be.

I notice all the blinkered blue noses on here talking up Terry. The man's a thug. A complete thug. He does believe his own hype. A real captain is someone like Gary Mabbutt. No shinnanagins. Does his job, and is a leader and inspiration to his team. A rallying point. Even as a spurs fan, i can also say Sol Campbell is a terrific captain. Terry, as captain, should be the one who calms his players down when there is a flash point. He is the influence. Not the antagonist. I saw him get sent off against Spurs last season and it was all in his own making. Chelsea lost the match. For England, Id have Gareth Barry. Unassuming, does his job, experienced enough and level headed and is very much worth the respect of the squad. If people dont respect him, then they have egos too big for the team. The only players at Chelsea worse than Terry is Cashley and Drogba. Horrible people and the embodiment of everything that is wrong with football.

I vaguely remember John Terry suing and winning over reports he had anything to do with Jose leaving, and I vaguely remember Jose saying they still keep in touch... So where are you doing your research, NOTW? Everyone is upset that he was on the pitch crying, it had nothing to do with believing his own hype and everything to do with the fact that he was put in a position he wasn't comfortable with and was forced to perform and when he couldn't he got upset. Anyone of us would be the same way if we were in his position. I don't count those tears as tears of weakness, but rather, as tears of passion and disappointment. If he didn't cry then you'd all be screaming that he didn't care and that he should be ousted for his lack of passion... Poor guy can't win with you @$$holes.
