Two teams heading in opposite directions will meet in Portland on Thursday when the hot Portland Trail Blazers (30-27) host the cold Houston Rockets (28-29) as consensus 4.5-point home favorites at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.

Portland has won six straight games overall along with 11 of 12, going 9-3 against the spread during that longer stretch. Houston has dropped four of five and seven of 10, with a 4-5-1 mark ATS.

The Blazers have used a strong offense to overpower opponents during their winning streak, averaging 114.7 points, with the over cashing in their last five. They have gotten great production from their starting backcourt of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, who each scored 34 points in a 112-104 victory against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday.

While Portland did not cover the spread as an 11.5-point home favorite, the team was able to win handily despite trailing with less than five minutes remaining.

The Rockets will be playing the finale of a five-game road trip here, and they have covered the spread in three of the last four, even though they lost three of them straight up. On Tuesday, they fell 117-114 to the Utah Jazz in overtime but covered as 4.5-point underdogs.

Houston’s Jason Terry hit a three-pointer with 11 seconds left in regulation to force the extra session, and James Harden finished with a game-high 42 points in the loss.

Harden scored 34 in the team’s last meeting with the Blazers, which resulted in a 116-103 road loss on February 10. The Rockets were also 4.5-point dogs in that game.

Portland is 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS in three matchups with Houston this season, also covering the past five after going 0-4-1 ATS in the previous five, according to the Odds Shark NBA Database.

The Blazers have moved into the sixth spot in the West thanks to their recent run, and the Rockets fell a half-game behind Utah in the race for the eighth and final playoff berth following their most recent loss.

Portland’s last four wins against Houston have all been decided by five points or more.
