  • The Yankees have won each of Sabathia’s past 10 starts.
  • This will be the first time Matsuzaka has pitched against the Yankees this season. In six career starts against New York, Matsuzaka is 3-2 with a 6.35 ERA.
  • Behind three stolen bases from Alex Rodriguez and two from Derek Jeter, the Yankees swiped a season-high seven bags against the Red Sox in Friday night’s 9-5 win. Johnny Damon and Robinson Cano also stole bases in the game.
  • Jorge Posada leads all Yankees with six hits, including three doubles, in 12 career at-bats against Matsuzaka.
  • Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz, who homered Friday, is 7-for-23 lifetime off Sabathia with one double and two home runs. 
  • The Yankees have scored an average of nearly eight runs per game over their past eight meetings with the Red Sox, after averaging 3.9 runs over the previous eight.
