Australia held on to seal a tense victory against an under strength West Indies team at the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa.

Australia appeared to be in control at half time when they posted a very healthy total of 275-8 from their 50 overs, Mitchell Johnson was the hero as he smashed 73 from just 47 balls.

However, Andre Fletcher and Travis Dowlin both scored half centuries and the West Indies appeared on course for a shock victory. To their credit the Australian bowlers stuck to their guns and restricted the West Indies to 225-9 to earn themselves a 50 run victory.

Australia have been playing some good One Day cricket recently having just completed a 6-1 series victory against England. Australia are the defending champions they won the title for the first time when it was held in India in 2006 ironically they defeated the West Indies in the final on that occasion.

If Australia can maintain this form then they have every chance of upsetting the Betting Odds and retaining the title.
