Streaky Stephenson Was Tempting Trade Chip for Clippers

Stephenson is averaging only 15.8 minutes per contest this season but has performed well when called upon, averaging 4.7 points on 49.4 percent shooting, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

He is obviously one of the smaller parts of this reported deal ahead of Thursday's NBA trade deadline and has had trouble carving out a consistent role in L.A. Others on the Clippers' perimeter rotation, such as Wesley Johnson and Austin Rivers, have played over him this season, though Rivers is currently nursing a broken hand.

There's also the baggage of a mercurial personality that comes with Stephenson, which was on display in L.A.'s most recent contest, per Yahoo Sports' Chris Mannix:

Although he is only 25 years old, Stephenson has declined significantly in recent years since a 2013-14 season with the Indiana Pacers in which he averaged 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.
