Karim Benzema came close to colliding with another car outside Real Madrid's training ground in Valdebebas on Sunday.

According to Sport English, the blue Ford Benzema nearly crashed in to then proceeded to follow the Frenchman as he drove off. The incident can be seen here:

Per the report, it is not the first time Benzema has been involved in incidents on the road, noting "he has been in trouble" on more than one occasion in recent times due to "speeding and performing an illegal turn."

The striker has been at the centre of a much more high-profile controversy this season as he is under investigation for his alleged involvement in a blackmail scandal targeting France team-mate Mathieu Valbuena.

Benzema has not let off-field controversies affect his performance on the pitch, though, as he has been in exceptional form with 23 goals netted in as many games in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

The 28-year-old's focus will now be on Los Blancos' important trip to Roma on Wednesday in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie, where he will be hoping to help fire his side into the quarter-finals.
