Parental pride often leads to some of the most moving, touching moments in sports. This isn't quite like that.
As frustrations ran high early in the third period of the Edmonton Oilers' 7-2 rout of the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, Ottawa's Max McCormick lashed out at Edmonton defenseman Darnell Nurse, tearing off his gloves and landing a few early jabs.
He didn't have the upper hand for long.
To his dad's immense, fist-pumping delight, Nurse wasted no time knocking McCormick's helmet off, connecting on several blows until the opposing forward was lying on the ice.
Perhaps next time McCormick will remember if he wants to stay away from the doctor, he'll have to steer clear of Nurse.
