Wenger Confirms Ozil Setback

Saturday, March 19

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger suggested Ozil may be absent from the Arsenal side after suffering an ankle injury that looked "more like a kick than a ligament injury," per ESPN FC's Ben Dinnery.

The German has been spectacular for Arsenal in the 2015-16 campaign, acting as their main provider and registering an incredible 18 assists in 28 Premier League games, per WhoScored.com

The last time he was absent through injury was for the Gunners' clash with Stoke City back in January when he was sidelined with a foot problem, and he was badly missed as the fixture ended goalless.

Per the BBC's Guy Mowbray, Arsenal struggled for creativity without Ozil, an issue they may have to address again if he remains absent.

In Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi and Joel Campbell, Wenger has a host of other inventive players to call on.

But Ozil has been the focal point of the Gunners attack this season, and his team-mates will need to step up to the plate while he is out of the side.
